Jefferson Bus Lines
Location from UMC campus: On-campus Pickup & Drop Off Services
Jefferson Bus Lines connects the UMC community and Crookston area residents, to the Twin Cities, Fargo, Grand Forks and points beyond. The Jefferson Line pick up is on the UMC campus at in front of Centennial Hall. The service offers pick-up seven days a week. Effective August 16, 2011, University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) will join the Jefferson Lines College Connection network. Route/Schedule 928 will stop on the west side of Centennial Hall on the UMC campus before continuing on to the other Crookston stop at Tri Valley Heartland Express. Schedule 927 will stop on campus on a discharge only basis in the evenings after making the scheduled stop at the Crookston agency.
This bus run stops by major colleges and universities on its way to and from Minneapolis, Grand Forks and Fargo. UMC faculty, staff and students can take advantage of these stops for school, fun, shopping, vacations or transfer related activities related

Riders with a U Card or student ID will receive a 15% student discount on regular priced daily service. Specially priced 7 and 14-day advance fares are also available (no additional discounts apply). Tickets can be purchased at Tri-Valley Heartland Express or on the Jefferson Lines website.
Riders are picked up and dropped off at Centennial Hall in Parking Lot F on the west side of the building.
T.H.E. Bus (Tri-Valley Heartland Express) - Crookston, MN
Location from UMC campus: On-campus Pickup & Drop Off Services
UMC and Tri-Valley Heartland Express (T.H.E. Bus) have partnered to provide local transportation service provides local Crookston bus service for the UMC campus. Students and employees can ride the designated UMC bus on its normal loop for free by presenting their UCard ID. This free service will be available from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday during the academic school year. Starting Saturday, September 6, T.H.E. Bus will be available every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the small fee of $1.00 per ride. T.H.E Bus will also provide transportation to the UMC community during our winter and summer breaks. The cost will be $1.00 per ride during those times. Have your UCard available and schedule in advance to take full advantage of this free service.
In order to allow individuals enough time to review their academic, work, and transportation needs, a grace period has been established. All UMC students and employees will be permitted to ride free until September 14, 2014. The above free service, rules, and adjusted rates will apply after that date.
Currently, each weekday morning T.H.E. Bus will start its loop by picking up at the prearranged location through Crookston and will arrive on campus between 7:45 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. The two official campus bus stops are located at the southwest corner of Parking Lot A outside the Sargeant Student Center (SSC) and the parking area between Evergreen Hall and Heritage Hall. T.H.E. Bus will drop-off at these locations every hour (X) of service between X:45 and X:50. T.H.E. Bus will stay at the SSC location until it departs at X:05. T.H.E. Bus will then go to the Residence Hall stop and depart that location at X:10. T.H.E. Bus will pick-up and drop-off at all of the prearranged locations around the north-end of Crookston (X:15), mid-town (X:25) and the south-end of Crookston (X:35) every scheduled hour to accommodate scheduled riders.
Any student or employee can depart from campus at scheduled times (X:5 and X:10 every hour) and ride the scheduled loop for free. Riders can stop to disembark anywhere along that route or at a close loop location. Those individuals can get picked up at the same location for free if they effectively communicate with the driver.
There is no guarantee T.H.E. Bus will stop at all possible locations in Crookston unless there is a prearranged, scheduled stop. The Crookston loop may be different on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday compared to Tuesday and Thursday, due to class and work schedules. For example, T.H.E. Bus may only stop at certain apartments only once in the morning or not at all depending if a stop is prescheduled. Remember a “Call-in” request for same day serve will cost $2.00 per ride with a UCard and $3.00 without the card!

Ampride Taxi Service
The Department of Student Affairs has partnered with the local Ampride Taxi Service (218-281-2000) to develop the Safe Ride Home initiative. The overall goals are to keep students safe and to encourage them to make safer choices. This pilot program will subsidize $2 of the local $5 taxi fare rate in Crookston, Monday through Sunday from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. for students who need a safe ride home to campus or their local residence in Crookston due to unsafe or risky situations such as:
In order to receive the discounted fare during these times, a student would need to inform the taxi driver she/he is a UMC student and needs a safe ride home. The student would need to provide the driver with a current UMC ID Card.
