Uff Da 6K Mud Run
September 6, 2014, Grand Forks, ND.  Volunteers needed for 5-hour morning and/or afternoon shifts to monitor race obstacles, cheer on participants while they conquer mud challenges, and serve as emergency support.  Includes free t-shirt,buff, snacks and, if you want to run, a $25 race discount.  Contact Theresa Grijalva at tjgrijalva@gra.midco.net for more information or to volunteer.  Also check out uffdamudrun.com.

Habitat for Humanity
Saturdays, usually 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., (lunch is provided)
Experience is NOT necessary.  The current house is located on Wilson Avenue, one block north of Highland School.  Recruiting for specific Saturdays through email and facebook.

PATCH
Interested in working with youth? Here is a great opportunity: PATCH is an after-school homework help program for 7-12th grade students. Volunteers would assist students with homework in a variety of subjects from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Currently seeking volunteers for Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays starting in September and continuing until May.  For more information, please contact Maria at 281-5313 ext. 2208, or mariaargueta@isd593.org.

Carnegie Library
Assistance requested cataloging books in storage and inputting the information into Past Perfect software at the Carnegie Library on the corner of Ash Street and Robert Street (next to the current Crookston Library). Care and Share

This is a homeless shelter, soup kitchen, and thrift store. Volunteers are cheerfully accepted to assist with all aspects of the operation. Please call Sue Shirek at 218-281-2644 for more information.

North Country Food Bank
315 3rd Avenue, S.W., Crookston
Individuals or groups of any size are invited to assist. Please call Russ Tate at 218-280-2926 to set up a time. Additionally, there also is a food shelf located in the downtown NCFB location at 424 North Broadway, and they can use shopping assistants. Call the food shelf coordinator, at 218-281-7356, ext. 7.

Polk County Humane Society Facebook Icon - Small

This animal shelter is staffed entirely by volunteers. Help is needed especially from 9:30 – 11 a.m. Monday through Friday and at 10 a.m. on weekends. Please call 218-281-7225 for information and to volunteer.

Sun, Country, and You
This therapy farm is located just a few miles outside of Crookston. Volunteers are sought to assist with chores and with therapy programs. For more information, contact Eleisha Owens at 218-521-0056.
