North Country Food Bank
424 N. Broadway, Crookston
Individuals or groups of any size are invited to assist packing boxes and backpacks.  Additionally, there also is a food shelf located at this downtown location;  they can use shopping assistants. Call the food shelf coordinator, at 218-281-7356, ext. 7.  UPCOMING PACKING DATES:  February 4, 5 - 7 p.m., February 10, 5 - 7 p.m., February 18, 5:30 - 7 p.m.  Please call Russ Tate at 218-280-2926 if you can help one of these dates.

Meal Delivery
Three times a year we are asked to assist a very worthwhile program, Home Delivered Meals.  Our next week to deliver meals is February 9 - 13.  Meals need to be picked up at the Employee Entrance on the west end of RiverView Hospital at 11:30 a.m. sharp.  The deliveries usually take about 30-40 minutes.  You can expect to be back to UMC by 12:15 p.m.  If you aren't all that familiar with Crookston, don't worry!  You are provided with a map and very specific directions.  Grab a friend to help navigate!  Email Lisa Loegering at to sign up.

February Fitness Fever
Polk County Public Health is again organizing February Fitness Fever and is asking for volunteers to assist with two of the events.  Please show up at 12:45 p.m.  Please email Tammy Conn at for more information or to volunteer.

Crookston Park & Rec Senior Day
The 4th Annual Senior Day will be held Friday, February 27, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  They are looking for volunteers to teach senior citizens how to use email and facebook.  Volunteers will need to use their own computers, but can come anytime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Please contact Phyllis Hagen at 281-1242 for more information or to volunteer.

Celebrate the Young Child Family Festival
Thursday, March 19, 5 - 8 p.m., Crookston High School.  If you are hanging around during Spring Break, please consider volunteering for this fun event.  This is a family festival that encourages children from birth - 10 years old to move, explore, and learn.  There will be 20 different stations set up.  Volunteers are needed at 5 p.m. to help set up.  The event runs from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., and volunteers are needed to assist children at various stations and then help clean up afterwards.  For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Francine Olson at


Interested in working with youth? Here is a great opportunity: PATCH is an after-school homework help program for 7-12th grade students. Volunteers would assist students with homework in a variety of subjects from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Currently seeking volunteers for Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays starting in September and continuing until May.  For more information, please contact Maria at 281-5313 ext. 2208, or

Carnegie Library

Ongoing assistance requested cataloging books in storage and inputting the information into Past Perfect software at the Carnegie Library on the corner of Ash Street and Robert Street (next to the current Crookston Library). Care and Share
220 East 3rd Street, Crookston.  This is a homeless shelter, soup kitchen, and thrift store. Volunteers are cheerfully accepted to assist with all aspects of the operation. Please call Sue Shirek at 218-281-2644 for more information.

Polk County Humane Society Facebook Icon - Small
720 East Robert Street, Crookston.  This animal shelter is staffed entirely by volunteers. Help is needed especially from 9:30 – 11 a.m. Monday through Friday and at 10 a.m. on weekends. Please call 218-281-7225 for information and to volunteer.

Sun, Country, and You
This therapy farm is located just a few miles outside of Crookston. Volunteers are sought to assist with chores and with therapy programs. For more information, contact Eleisha Owens at 218-521-0056.
