In July 2012, the Computer Help Desk started distributing the HP Elitebook 8470w (Workstation series). This model is a step up from the 'P' (Professional series) UMC has used for the past four years. The specifications below describe the standard issue notebook for fall 2012; however, the Help Desk will also issue HP 2790 tablet-PCs (convertible PCs) to many faculty in October 2012. The 2790 will not be released until that time (no specs at this time).
