A few years ago UMC offered Technology Mini-grants to support instructional technology innovation. We are happy to announce the return of a very similar program called the Technology Innovation Program (TIP). TIP’s intent is to specifically support UMC’s teaching and learning mission, to invigorate technology innovation to enhance the student academic experience, to develop projects/activities which enhance student learning or instructional efficiency through the application of technology, and to support faculty in their study, design, and development of course materials. The return of this program was recommended by the Technology Work Group in their campus-wide Strategic Positioning work.
Mini-Grant Description
The University of Minnesota, Crookston’s “Technology Innovation Program” (TIP), designed to invigorate technology innovation to enhance the student academic experience is requesting applications for funding. TIP’s intent is to specifically support UMC’s teaching and learning mission. Project proposals must meet defined guidelines (e.g. provide direct benefit to academics, new instructional investment for hardware/software/research etc).
The University of Minnesota, Crookston has established financial support for faculty to develop projects/activities which enhance student learning or instructional efficiency through the application of technology. Customized training modules and both inside and outside of class learning experiences are examples of what students are expecting. This grant program is intended to support faculty in their study, design, and development of course materials (i.e., increase student responsibility for learning, reduce amount of classroom time, asynchronous and synchronous access to courseware, video streaming, distance and online delivery). Funding may be used for salary stipends, consultations, hardware and software. Funds may not be used for travel. Funds are not intended as a replacement for lab equipment nor for instructional salary (including release time).
