If students already have a bachelor’s or graduate degree and would like to pursue licensure as a Nursing Home Administrator in Minnesota, UMC does offer all of the classes required for licensure online at least annually. UMC also offers the Certificate of Health Informatics: Privacy & Security for Health Care Providers. This is a perfect opportunity to fulfill the open elective requirement for the Health Management degree. This certificate consists of 18 credits and offers students a competitive advantage in the healthcare workforce. This certificate is consistent with the legislation put in place as healthcare providers move to exchanging large amounts of health information electronically; it is imperative to ensure that patient information remains private and secure.
UMC offers a similar program, the Bachelor of Applied Health degree, which is designed for students with an associate’s degree in a clinical field. To be eligible for the Bachelor of Applied Health degree students transfer in 38 clinical credits from community and/or technical colleges. This is an applied degree and requires a few less liberal education, management and finance classes than the Health Management degree. This is a great option for students currently working in healthcare, since it is a fast-track to a bachelor’s degree.
