Are you interested in becoming a chiropractor, dentist, medical doctor, optometrist, occupational therapist, pharmacist or physical therapist? Start your career here with a Health Sciences degree from the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC). We also offer a one-year pre-nursing course of study.

 

• Students will take courses in the sciences such as biology, chemistry, mathematics, social sciences, humanities, and communication. Students may also elect to take classes in Health Management in order to better understand the healthcare system and be better prepared to work in it successfully.
• You can begin as a freshman, or you can transfer coursework from another program and apply it your course of study.
• Our program also provides coursework that will help you prepare for the business aspects of health care practice and experienced faculty who can advise you about professional study options.
• Excellent instruction across the curriculum with ample opportunity to work directly with dedicated UMC faculty and staff on unique research opportunities.
• Multiple opportunities are available through an alliance with the Minneapolis/St. Paul campuses of the University of Minnesota.

The B.S. in health sciences provides students with the prerequisite knowledge and skills required for admission to professional programs in chiropractic, dentistry, medicine, optometry, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, and veterinary medicine. UMC also provides a two-year pre-nursing course of study. Admission is competitive and specific admission requirements, including courses and experiences, vary by professional program and institution. Completion of the B.S. does not guarantee admission to professional programs at the University of Minnesota or other universities.
