The University of Minnesota, Crookston offers two certificates in Health Informatics. Due to advances in information technology (IT), opportunities are available to improve patient care and reduce costs by adopting these technologies in health care organizations. The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) is providing incentives for health organizations to implement "meaningful use" of health information technology.
There are scholarships available up to $10,000 through the University Partnership for Health Informatics (UP-HI)!
Certificate of Health Informatics - Privacy & Security for Health Care Providers
The University of Minnesota, Crookston's certificate in Health Informatics Privacy and Security for Health Care Providers program, will prepare students to support the secure collection, management, retrieval, exchange, and/or analysis of information in electronic form in health care and public health organizations.
Certificate of Health Informatics for Software Engineers and IT Professionals
The University of Minnesota, Crookston's Health Informatics for Software Engineers and IT Professionals certificate prepares students with an existing background in Information Technology, programming, and software engineering to apply their expertise to the domain of health informatics in order to build advanced Information Systems for health care and public health organizations.
