Students are able to prepare to become a veterinarian with a pre-veterinary medicine emphasis or take courses specific to their interests with the animal science emphasis.
Students take field trips to about 30 farms in the area to get exposure to a variety of farm environments.
Students are able to work with faculty to create and carry out research projects on animal science topics of their choosing.
Students gain experience working with University-owned beef cattle, swine, sheep, and local dairy herds.
Small class sizes and on-campus barns allow students to regularly work and interact with a variety of animals.Whether your goals lie in livestock production or veterinary school, we’ll help you get there. Explore a career in animal science as you work toward a degree that emphasizes science-based animal management and environmental systems along with current and emerging technologies and techniques. Follow your interests in livestock production and management or one of many other allied industries such as feed production, artificial insemination, and livestock or farm equipment support and sales. You can also work toward graduate or veterinary school.
